After you file for Bankruptcy you will be required to attend a debtor education course. The purpose of this course is to teach you how to better manage your finances after your bankruptcy. It will take more time to complete than your credit counseling session and may last from 1 to 3 hours.   When you have completed your post-bankruptcy debtor education, you will receive a certificate after paying a fee between $40 and $50. Only then will you be eligible for a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy discharge.
