PRESIDENT BUSH SIGNS REFORM BILL INTO LAW
The president signed the Bankruptcy Reform Act bill, S256 into law this afternoon, Wednesday, April 20, 2005. However, the new laws will not become effective for 180 days. Call our office today if you have questions or concerns about how the reform bill might effect your particular situation.

March 17 2005 HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE CLEARS REFORM BILL The House Judiciary Committee passed the Bankruptcy Reform bill, S. 256 by a vote of 22 to 13. No amendments were added to the bill. The bankruptcy reform legislation is expected to go to the floor of the House of Representatives the first week after the Spring recess. The House is currently scheduled to reconvene Tuesday, April 5th.

SENATE PASSES REFORM BILL
The Senate conducted its final vote on the Bankruptcy Reform bill, S. 256. As expected, the bill passed with a vote of 74-25. The bill passed as amended without objection. Senator Feingold's amendment 92, to amend credit counseling provisions, was accepted with the agreement that he would withdraw all other amendments. This means that the Feingold amendment 93 was withdrawn as well.
